Not only boats, you can visit the Po Delta by bike too
The captains and the mariners will accompany you in the discovery of the park with a passion that comes from afar, inherited by the pioneer of tourism in the Po Delta, Marino.
The love for the river of Marino Caparìn, this nickname was the legacy of his grandmother, seller of ‘’cape’’, dialectal name that indicated the clams, (today the gold mine of the Delta) was born in the postwar period and when he was very young he become ‘’Caronte’’ managing the ferry-boat on the big River. In the ‘70s the ferryboat moved to unspoilt beaches of the mouth of the River and at the same time Marino introduced his beloved territories to the first visitors of the Po Delta.
He understood that the tourism could have become the future of Delta, so Marino started to accompany the first tourists with a venetian taxi, then school groups with a water bus, riprised by Ermanno Olmi in his documentary ‘’ Lungo il Fiume’’ ( by the River). In 1987 Marino inaugurated the motorboat Venere which is still today the flagship of the family fleet.
Over the years the helm of Venere has passed to Marino from his sons, Stefano, Sandro and Simone and lastly with the precious help of his wife Graziana, his nephews and Vittorio they keep to make the people discover the Po Delta with the same love and devotion for the territory. Recently the fleet was expanded with the arrival of the typical Venetian boat ‘’ El Doge’’, completely restored in 2013, and the electric eco-boat named ‘’Maaty’’.
An Innovative and forward-looking project, the one to introduce a boat with completely electric propulsion able to contain almost 50 tourists, denotes the conviction that the Delta is a beautiful territory to admire and visit with profound respect.
The Love of the Cacciatori’s for the Po Delta does not end with Marino: it’s a great feeling of belonging running through the veins of the family member, as the Big River flows to the Adriatic sea.
In fact Vittorio, his youngest brother, captain and environmental guide himself, in 1986 transformed his great love for biking in a public service, opened the first bike and canoe rental, the ‘’GiroDelta’’. Through suggestive and uncontaminated by humans paths there's the chance to visit the beauty of the river Po from a completely new perspective, by adding the useful physical activity.
Even if the current of the water seems always quite calm, in fact it’s not an easy challenge to go back upstream the current in canoe. Together the Cacciatori’s family has created the perfect itinerary for visiting the Po Delta in all its glory, by combining water and land through the route ‘’Bike and Boat’’: a series of excursions which include both boats trips and bike trails to the mainland.
Who have seen The Po Delta with the guide of the Cacciatori’s family was fascinated not only by the charming landscapes but also by the passion of the ambiental guides and the ship crew wich tell the stories of this amazing land surrounded by the green of the nature, the ever changing colors of reedbeds, circled by the blue shades of the River and the Adriatic sea.
